Damage prevention of plain bearings: application strategies in mechanical vehicles

1. Improve assembly and maintenance standards

4. Optimize the design process

The heat balance and temperature rise control of bearings should be considered in the design stage. The oil inlet hole should be located on the top of the upper bearing shell to ensure the uniform distribution of lubricating oil and reduce the risk of babbitt softening caused by temperature increase. When selecting the bearing material, it is necessary to comprehensively consider its plasticity, strength, corrosion resistance and other characteristics, and choose the most suitable material for different application scenarios, such as babbitt alloy for stable load environment, and high tin lead base alloy is more suitable for high-power engines.
